These days, it will not be a surprise to find nationals from other countries living or vacationing in the Philippines, according to 50-year-old Chris Bech, a Norwegian married to a Filipina.

A former exporter of Philippine furniture, Chris and his young wife Maria Teresa "Tess" Fajilan Bech bought and developed a beachfront property in Dancalan and built residential buildings that they sell or lease to foreigners.

Chris Bech says he was amazed that Northern Samar attracts not only those in midlife but even those in their 20s. He admits that he, too, is still fascinated by the different places in the province.

Chris first arrived here in 2002, when his former partner in a furniture export firm in Manila, who was from this town, invited him to spend the Holy Week in Bobon. A few months later, he and his wife bought a beachfront property here, and even made an organic farm.

"A few years later we decided to invite other foreigners—environment-friendly, nice foreigners—to share this place with us," he says.

So far, Chris says, they have already built 10 houses in the area and have hired some 40 people in the neighborhood for the cleaning, carpentry and maintenance works. "We have 20 more houses to construct in the next 18 months," he adds.

Chris believed that more foreigners would be coming here in the years to come. "We will try to promote this (place) as a retirement haven in a fresh, clean environment," he vows.

Borax has several different cleaning properties. It can act a little like hydrogen peroxide in that it has a bleaching effect when dissolved in hot water. A reaction occurs in which a little hydrogen peroxide is produced (H2O2). It also enhances the cleaning power of other cleaning agents.

One question worth asking too is where can I buy boric acid?

Bleach for example, is made stronger by mixing with borax. It has anti-microbial properties and it inhibits moulds and fungal growth. It is quite strongly alkaline, so it's probably best to wear gloves if you are putting it into washing up water or using it for cleaning surfaces.

It's not very reactive which means that it can be safely combined with other cleaning products. Don't mix it with acids or store it with acids.

I've been using it for a few weeks now and it's really very good indeed. It's quite safe if used correctly, it's effective and it's fairly cheap. What more could you possibly want?

Pacquiao Clottey Preview

His campaign for political office in the Philippines will begin soon. He has hinted that this could be his last fight. And then there is the lingering hangover from the whole Floyd Mayweather Jr. mess.

Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) has ample reason to be distracted when he steps into the ring tonight against Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KOs) in boxing's debut at Cowboys Stadium. And everyone will surely be in front of their screens watching the Pacquiao vs Clottey live stream online.

But don't bet on it.

“I know he's bigger and stronger than me,” said Pacquiao, who hasn't lost in five years. “So I can't underestimate him because he is a former world champion also.”

A sellout crowd of 45,000 is expected for the 12-round bout for Pacquiao's World Boxing Organization welterweight title, the main event on an HBO pay-per-view card that starts at 8 p.m. This will be another shot at Pacquiao's fame.

On paper, it's a match made in boxing heaven: Pacquiao, the world's greatest fighter, competing in perhaps the world's greatest sports venue.

Maybe that's why promoters dubbed it “The Event.”

“The Fight,” the one fans wanted to see, is Pacquiao-Mayweather. But it died a slow and painful death after negotiations broke down over Mayweather's camp demanded random, Olympic-style blood tests.

Pacquiao and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum walked away from the bout and decided on Clottey, another fighter from the Top Rank stable. Clottey, 32, is no Mayweather. His best hope for victory might be a distracted Pacquiao. A native of Accra, Ghana, now living in the Bronx, Clottey is coming off a 12-round split-decision loss to Miguel Cotto in June, a fight some say Clottey won. He owns wins over Zab Judah and Diego Corrales, but lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Antonio Margarito in 2006.

Pacquiao dominated Cotto in November in his last fight, winning by 12th-round TKO.

A durable fighter with underrated hand speed whose forte is blocking punches, Clottey has never been stopped or knocked out in 38 pro bouts.

But Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, predicts that will change.

“We've watched a lot of tape on Clottey,” Roach said. “Manny will overwhelm him with his speed and I do believe he will be the first person to (knock him out).”

Pacquiao is a 5-1 favorite in the scheduled 12-round fight.

Pacquiao weighed in at 145¾ pounds for the fight; Clottey weighed in at 147 pounds Friday.

Pacquiao, 31, maintains he is focused on this fight and nothing else.

He plans to return to the Philippines by March 22 to begin his campaign for a congressional seat. He ran for office in 2007 and was defeated.

“This is my last fight before the election,” Pacquiao said. “I am not saying I am going to retire.”
Strong denial

Pacquiao maintains he has never taken steroids and has declined to discuss the blood-testing issue in recent days.

It won't be a problem for this fight because Texas only requires urine testing after a fight.

Rafael Ramos of San Antonio will referee the bout.

San Antonio featherweight Joe Morales (20-13, four KOs) is scheduled to appear in a non-televised bout on the undercard.

Lyoto Machida says, "I cannot be a champion unless I am able to defend my title." And I agree. But before we all watch the UFC 104 live stream and witness if Machida can defend his light heavyweight title, let me share with you now some of my predictions.

Lyoto Machida versus Mauricio Rua – Light Heavyweight Championship

Even while acknowledging his experience and white-hot hostility in the octagon, it’s still really frickin’ hard to picture Rua beating Machida. Yes, Mauricio has brought some much-needed discipline to his game and his cardio seems to have improved after some poor showings, but the odds remain decidedly stacked against him.

The very things that give Rua a chance – his ultra-aggressive punching, kicking and shooting – are exactly the style that Machida has been able to exploit with canny movement and laser-guided strikes. For Rua to work the ground game, he’s got to take Lyoto down and keep him there, and we all know how hard that has proven to be. And unlike Rua, there’s no question of which Machida we’ll see in the octagon – this guy has been unwaveringly deadly each time he’s faced an opponent.

Look for Machida to fight the way he’s always fought – with extreme intelligence and elusiveness. His ability to keep opponents off balance will earn him yet another victory as he stuns the crowd and submits Rua in the second round.

The Verdict: Machida wins by TKO in round 2

World Buzz: UFC 104

Cain Velasquez vs Ben Rothwell

Cain Velasquez is an impressive dude, but he’s raw and inexperienced. In many ways, he’s in the same spot as Shane Carwin, whom he was scheduled to fight prior to some UFC rescheduling. Now, Velasquez is gonna have to go through “Big” Ben Rothwell to get the title shot he’s been craving. In my mind, this is a bad match up for Velasquez and a great opportunity for Rothwell, who’s being painted as an underdog but could easily pull out a win – this guy’s got granite fists, a rock-hard chin and some serious submission skills, not to mentions years in the cage against a varied and impressive list of opponents.

Look for Rothwell to finish Velasquez in the second round.

The Verdict: Rothwell wins by KO in round 2

UFC 104: Crucial Bouts

Josh Neer vs. Gleison Tibau

This is sure to be a tough one for both competitors, who are each coming off tough decision losses. Tibau needs to control Neer, who’s proven to be a monster both on the feet and when he’s fighting from the top. Add to this Neer’s uncanny toughness and a coolie-like work ethic and you’ve got a man who’s going to be particularly hard to beat.

The Verdict: Neer wins by decision

Yoshiyuki Yoshida vs. Anthony Johnson

This bout’s about technical judo against aggressive and often wild striking. The puny Yoshida will have his hands full with a fighter who could easily be the biggest in his weight class. It’s a safe guess to say that Johnson will use his size, speed and striking advantages to tear Yoshida apart from a distance.

The Verdict: Johnson wins by KO in round 1

Spencer Fisher versus Joe Stevenson

Two talented and longtime lightweight contenders clash in the first bout of the main card, with Fisher’s striking prowess going up against Stevenson’s tenacity and aggression when fighting from the top.

I really follow the latest news in live soccer for the 2010 World Cup because the qualifiers are now being held in games. Later, I will watch the USA vs Trinidad and Tobago live stream because I missed the previous games of the USA and I know that this match, they have a high chance of winning. I will be coming over to my friend's house and watch this soccer game together with him.

Funny People Movie Review

Making us laugh until Sprite comes out our noses is no longer enough for Judd Apatow, the guy who directed "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up." Now he wants us to cry between laughs, too.

Apatow's "Funny People" amiably attempts to elicit chuckles and sobs in alternate moments -- though, with Apatow involved, the drama is a bit tougher and the comedy a good deal raunchier.

Adam Sandler stars as George Simmons, a comedian who has grown rich on a spate of idiotic movies. But George is all alone in his big mansion, and feeling that loneliness even more when his doctor tells him he has a form of leukemia -- and that his thin chances for survival depend on experimental treatment.

George takes his self-pity to a comedy club, as he trots out some dark (and not very funny) stand-up material. Following him onstage is Ira Wright (Seth Rogen), a struggling young comic who nervously riffs on George's morose act. George, insulted at first, hires Ira as a joke writer and, eventually, his personal assistant.

At first Ira is impressed with George's success and wealth, but his tenure as best-friend-for-hire -- particularly as George's illness grows worse -- shows Ira how much George has walled himself off from love and relationships. The relationship that looms largest is with ex-girlfriend Laura (played by Apatow's wife and muse, Leslie Mann), now married to an Australian businessman (Eric Bana) and raising two daughters (played by Mann and Apatow's daughters, Maude and Iris Apatow).

As Apatow (who wrote and directed) depicts them, relationships are contentious things for comedians. People who laugh through pain and cannibalize their lives for material are more likely to insult their friends -- as Ira does with his roommates, equally insecure comic Leo Koenig (Jonah Hill) and womanizing actor Mark Taylor Jackson (Jason Schwartzman) -- than embrace them. The same holds true in romance, as Ira's efforts to date Daisy (Aubrey Plaza, from "Parks and Recreation"), a deadpan comedian across the street, end up in angry one-liners.

Apatow doesn't harvest many laughs from George's illness. Most of the jokes come from the decidedly R-rated stand-up routines and from the satiric clips of George's bad movies ("Merman," about a half-fish character, and "Re-Do," in which George's head is digitally grafted onto a baby's body) or Mark's lame sitcom (an inner-city school cliché-fest called "Yo Teach").

Apatow's pacing is a little uneven, as he's clearly more comfortable with comedy than heavy drama -- and he does Sandler, his former roommate, no favors by making George a rather unlikable character. "Funny People" clicks best when the emphasis is on the funny, not on the people.

A very hard match up to predict who the winner is so I'm just going for my favorite which is Condit. Stay strong against Kampmann's strikes. Condit wins by decision.
